The most disappointing car of 2022

limelightchauffeur

On the 2022 list, the worst cars were complacent. This usually comes down to people living in their 70's who remember when cars routinely wouldn't start, rusted to dust, or caught fire. That's right, that's right, that's right, that's right! So I say, "Hogwash". That's like saying, "Things are going well in the world right now, because we have vital water and antibiotics.

But whatever the case, you are on this list. This list is about "disappointing," which is a bit like the worst cars we've driven, but ultimately it can be about expectations. We were expecting an X and we got a Y. We thought the Z was going to do great last time We were expecting something that costs a cool $150k, but it just seemed like a waste of money. Basically, there is plenty of room for interpretation.

2022 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro

Consumer Editor Jeremy Korzyniewski: There are plenty of good reasons to buy a Toyota Tacoma. Excellent expected reliability and resale value are our top priorities, eg. Another positive: In TRD Pro guise, when my test truck came packed, it could legitimately handle some tough rough terrain. The big problem is that it's not as fun to drive anywhere else. The powertrain makes as much noise as horsepower, a fact made worse by the transmission's low gearing at the mere suggestion of an incline, the ride feels solid and revving, and the interior was only passable when the truck was last redesigned for 2016. It is now simply the worst in the class.

Perhaps most annoying of all is the Tacoma's ridiculous seating position. The bottom of the front seats are set so low to the ground that my legs are pointing forward at an uncomfortable angle. Despite this glaring problem, my head still remains uncomfortably close to the ceiling. All of this leads to an awkward driving position that cannot be corrected no matter how you adjust the seat or steering wheel. It's terrible.

It should be noted that some of my biggest complaints are made specifically with the higher quality TRD Pro. In more sedate trim levels, the Tacoma's pros may outweigh its cons. And as I mentioned at the beginning, I wouldn't blame anyone for buying a Tacoma just because of its reputation for reliability and resale value. But for me, driving a car is not a pleasant experience.

2022 Mercedes-Benz EQB 350

Zack Palmer Road Test Editor: How do you turn a great, affordable luxury car—the GLB 250—into something you don't want? EQB is a great formula to follow. With a starting price of around $40,000, the GLB is a great entry-level option and a great value Mercedes-Benz. I will go so far as to say it is one of my favorite Benz products. interval. Meanwhile, the EQB 350 I drove this year costs just $60,000, and all you have to show up for the extra $20,000 is a lackluster electric powertrain.

It's not that the EQB 350 is a bad driving car by any means. The cabin is quiet. There's a fair amount of shenanigans out of line for most people, and it still looks cute. However, this electric powertrain doesn't come close to making you feel like the extra $20,000 over the GLB 250 was worth it. The charging technology is quite old compared to other Benz products as well. I'd be just as happy to ditch the boosted four-cylinder in the GLB. Unfortunately, the EQB doesn't come loaded with a bunch of equipment that might justify its extra cost. If you want basic luxuries like heated seats, keyless entry, adaptive cruise control and more, you need to get the checkboxes.

Even at their base price, other electric cars are shockingly more compelling. The Genesis GV60, Volvo XC40 Recharge, or Cadillac Lyriq are all obvious choices over the EQB. It's better equipped, similarly priced, more fun to drive, and especially features cutting-edge EV charging/battery technology. If the EQB is priced at $45,000, the EV will be an acceptable value. Its $60,000 price tag (or more with the necessary options) turns it into the most disappointing car I've driven this year.

2022 Volkswagen GTI

The six-speed manual is excellent and the DSG is a great alternative for those who can't/don't do three-pedal fun cars. It rides beautifully, handles sharp, and makes all the right sounds. In addition, the opening makes it very practical for everyday household chores. And if that was the end of the story, this entry would be on a very different list. But it's not, thanks to the new Golf's interior, which has been significantly lowered in price, where many features are now controlled by a half-baked infotainment system that can take an inordinately long time to boot up. It wasn't the worst car I've driven in 2022, but it certainly had the biggest whiff of expectations.

2023 Toyota Sequoia Capstone

James Ryswick Senior Editor: We've waited nearly 15 years for a new Sequoia...we'll probably have to wait a long time. Even fuel economy, thanks to the standard hybrid transmission, was woefully disappointing—just barely breaking 16 mpg against the EPA's estimate of 22 mpg combined. The fourth episode of the fourth episode begins. To the ground, the rear floor is low enough that the third-row seat folds flat to give you ample legroom. You can read more about third-row seat tricks and download here. The first axle was a Sequoia capstone that I tested on 22-inch stanchions, coordinated with a camper suspension and construction that made even the slickest gravel road seem smooth. The constant vibrations and impacts are stressful. There was nothing about the problem. The "shock" is thrown, applied later. The Sequoia Capstone was a horrible disappointment.

2023 Jeep Wagoneer L

Senior Editor, Green, John Peltz Snyder: After spending time with the Grand Cherokee L, I was excited for Jeep's next foray into the three-row territory. The name Wagoneer rings some nostalgia bells, too—my family had one a week. It was sent along with the engine view. On the other hand, the work knot, there are a few things that really took the shine off this thing. It was also rough, for one thing. same source. Sound, sound, sound, sound, sound, sound, sound input, sound input! Exciting. Finally, he is not handsome. She had recently bought a new one, and it turned out to be the other two on the other side. Maybe a Wagoneer S (or whatever it winds up) can win me over instead.

2023 Toyota Crown

I paid well and spoke with the person in charge of it. I just don't get it. It's tall and crossover-like, but it doesn't have real additional ground clearance. It's much more expensive too. The best-fitting hybrid system is for driving, but if you're looking for the fun stuff, you've got more fun options from other (albeit less efficient) automakers. The base powertrain is particularly efficient, but it's also available in Lexus-badged Sport items, which simply have more tufts than the Crown in the States. practical and more popular. I just don't know who this car is for, and even for this person, I'm not sure it's their best choice. I hope the promised plug-in hybrid makes more sense, with an emphasis on "few".
